Ventura County Rental Housing Survey

Industry News,

Take this brief survey to assist housing providers throughout Ventura County. Housing authorities and Section 8 housing providers in Ventura County are conducting an important rental market study of current rental housing conditions and trends in rental pricing throughout the County. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently notified housing providers in Ventura County that there would be a 10% cut in Fair Market Rents (FMRs).

Why is this survey important, and why now?

HUD’s recently released fiscal year 2027 FMRs show significant decreases in rents across Ventura County. However, these reductions do not align with current rental market conditions and clearly must be inaccurate. Because FMRs are used to establish Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) payment standards, inaccurate rental data used to establish FMRs will make it far more difficult for voucher holders to find quality housing and may also have implications for future HUD funding.

Therefore, it is imperative that housing providers participate in this Ventura County rental market survey so that FMRs established by HUD can be appealed, and so that HUD can be given locally collected data that is far more accurate. Please……help by completing this short survey. In order for the appeal to be successful, it depends on receiving a large number of responses from housing providers throughout the County.
