Housing Providers Meet John McKinney for L.A. City Attorney
Daniel Yukelson, AAGLA Executive Director: “John McKinney is the only choice, and the best choice for L.A. City Attorney.”
On September 30, rental housing providers and real estate professionals had an opportunity to meet John McKinney, who is running for Los Angeles City Attorney. Approximately 40 people gathered for the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles-sponsored event at the offices of Moss & Co.; AAGLA has endorsed McKinney.
A Career Focused on Public Safety
John McKinney was raised in a working-class New Jersey neighborhood, where he saw firsthand what happens when communities are overwhelmed by crime, addiction, and instability. At a young age, he chose a path that would make him part of the solution rather than a victim of those realities.
McKinney is a Deputy Los Angeles County District Attorney. For more than three decades, he has prosecuted violent offenders and fought for the rights of victims. He is running for L.A. City Attorney because he believes Los Angeles deserves to be safe and “because public service should mean service to the public, not politics as usual.” John McKinney is a lifelong Democrat who has dedicated his life and career to upholding the principles of equal justice for all.
A Clear Choice for Los Angeles
McKinney’s opponent, however, is a progressive aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America and supports defunding the police and eliminating jail time even for the most violent criminals. She believes violent offenders should be released with ankle monitors while awaiting trial.
Unlike John McKinney, she has never prosecuted a case in court and does not have experience managing a large department of attorneys. According to an interview published in CALÓ News, her approach to the homelessness crisis includes “aggressive enforcement against abusive landlords.” She has stated that, if elected, she would create an enforcement department within the City Attorney’s Office to prosecute housing providers.
Support John McKinney for City Attorney
John McKinney must be our next Los Angeles City Attorney. He is a moderate focused on encouraging opportunities for businesses, fighting crime, prosecuting corruption, and improving public safety.
Angelenos experienced the policies supported by McKinney’s opponent, Marissa Roy, when George Gascón was District Attorney. Please help make sure John McKinney becomes the next Los Angeles City Attorney.
