Los Angeles County Seeks Advice on Building Performance Standards

Industry News,
Los Angeles County Seeks Advice on Building Performance Standards

The imposition of Building Performance Standards (BPS) can cost money, both in terms of compliance and for administration. Los Angeles County, with support from Clean Power Alliance (CPA) and Southern California Edison (SCE), and in partnership with the City of Los Angeles, is convening building industry leaders and professionals to help shape future Building Performance Standards (BPS) for the unincorporated County and the City of Los Angeles.

BPS are policies that require buildings of a certain size to meet energy or emissions performance targets over time. Governments like the County and City of Los Angeles believe the BPS process will help align Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles with state efforts on building performance, including work by the California Energy Commission (CEC), which is developing a Building Energy Performance Strategy Report.

The County is looking for key decision-makers with expertise in building development, design, construction, or operations to provide input on the policy to ensure that a future policy is:

  • Technically feasible and cost-effective
  • Responsive to real-world building conditions
  • Inclusive of diverse building types and communities
  • Supportive of long-term industry and community climate goals

If you possess expertise in one of the areas above and want to directly help develop BPS policies that shape the future of buildings across Los Angeles County and the City of Los Angeles, use the registration links below to sign up for an information and listening session.

All sessions will cover the same material; please select the one that best fits your schedule:
