AAGLA Opposes Increased Sales Taxes for L.A. County

The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles has joined a coalition of groups consisting of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, CalTax and the California Rental Housing Association to oppose a proposed 0.5% increase in Los Angeles County sales taxes.

Proposed Assembly Bill 1768 (Asm. Bryan) would authorize Los Angeles County to impose a transactions and use tax (a/k/a, sales tax), contingent upon voter approval, that exceeds the 2 percent statewide limitation. Los Angeles County is already home to some of the highest taxes in the country, and by raising the “cap,” this only becomes a slippery slope of possible future tax increases.
