With this federal funding, refugee resettlement agencies in Los Angeles County and Orange County are urgently seeking permanent housing for Afghan refugees who had to leave their home country because their lives were at risk.
Refugee resettlement agencies in Los Angeles and Orange counties are urgently seeking permanent housing for Afghan refugees arriving in California. There are approximately 5,500 refugees expected in Los Angeles County by next year. These refugees hold a Special Immigrant Visa and have full lawful status in the United States because their previous work for the U.S. government. These refugees are fully vetted by various agencies of the U.S. government, and they are here in the U.S. legally and have Social Security numbers and California identification cards. All arrivals receive a COVID test and other vaccinations.
