About the Rent Registry

The Los Angeles County Rent Registry was established under the County’s Rent Stabilization and Tenant Protections Ordinance and the Mobile Home Rent Stabilization and Mobile Home Owner Protections Ordinance. The Rent Registry allows landlords to provide required rental housing information in compliance with the County ordinances, such as changes in tenancy, rental rates, and amenities, as well as pay annual registration fees to administer and enforce the program.

Landlords and mobile home park owners who rent units, rooms or mobile home spaces within unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County are required to register and pay registration fees annually. Some units or properties may be exempt from registration fees and may submit an exemption request through the registry.

Property owners who reside in their home and do not receive rent for a room or dwelling unit on the same property are NOT required to register on the Los Angeles County Rent Registry. If you ever rent your unit(s) or space(s), you will be required to register within thirty (30) days of the tenancy start date.

Rent Registration Fees

All rental units and mobile home spaces must be registered and any fees paid by September 30th of each calendar year. Registration fees fall into the following categories:

  • $90.00 per Fully Covered Unit or Mobile Home Space subject to rent restrictions and “just cause” eviction protections (e.g. At-Fault or No-Fault eviction reasons)
  • $30.00 per Just-Cause Only Units that are subject only to “Just-Cause” eviction protections only (no rent restrictions).

Up to 50% of the annual registration fee for Fully Covered Units and mobile home spaces may be passed through to tenants and mobile homeowners, prorated monthly. Property owners will be able to pay online with a credit card or e-check through the Rent Registry. In-person and mail-in options will also be available with details to follow.
