Recent Data Proves Eviction Rates in California Are Some of the Lowest

A recent CalMatters article erroneously reported that nearly 1 out of 3 Californians surveyed were somewhat concerned that they would be evicted in the next 2 months according to a February household Census survey. The CalMatters article clearly omits. however, some very important facts and completely slants the story against rental housing providers.
The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles along with its state affiliate, the California Rental Housing Association (CalRHA) are asking members and property owners to not fall prey to erroneous claims made by CalMatters, which will likely spread to further the ongoing false dialog against rental housing providers. Help to spread our counter-messaging to set the record straight, and help us to get the word out on social media, in emails and contact with others.
While last month's Household Census survey shows renters concerned about evictions, California consistently has the LOWEST eviction rates of the 10 most populous states, with 2.2 pre-COVID eviction filings per 100 rental households as compared to 9 per 100 in New York and 16 per 100 in Michigan.
