Downey City Council Approves Annual Rate Increases for Solid Waste and Recycling Services

On Tuesday, March 10th, the Downey City Council adopted a resolution to approve annual rate adjustments for solid waste and recycling services applicable to both residential and commercial customers. The rate increases will be effective April 1, 2020.

The rate increases are:

• Single-family Residential Customers – 12.3% rate increase
• Multi-family Residential Customers (up to four units) – 6.06% rate increase for individual cart service and 5.67% rate increase for 3 cubic yard (CY) bin service
• Commercial Customers (including multi-family residential customers with five or more units) – 5.43% rate increase for individual cart service and 5.5% rate increase for 3 cubic yard (CY) bin service
