Los Angeles County Emergency Rent Relief Program for Landlords

If you’re a landlord or tenant affected by the 2025 Eaton or Palisades fires and windstorm events or any other emergency financial hardships, you may be eligible for financial assistance. The County of Los Angeles has recently announced that applications for the recently established Emergency Rent Relief Program will open on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, January 23, 2026, at 4:59 p.m. (all times are local time).

The County is encouraging landlords to complete an interest form to receive a notification when the application period opens and to receive further updates. The interest form can be found at the following link: Interest Form.

About the Program

The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) has announced that it will soon launch the Emergency Rent Relief Program to provide financial assistance to qualifying property owners and tenants impacted by recent emergencies. This Program will prioritize small landlords with four or fewer rental units to help them mitigate detrimental emergency financial hardships while also reducing the number of tenants being evicted in the County due to unpaid rents.

Grant Awards are to be made available to cover up to six (6) months of rent debt, and with limited exceptions, a maximum award of $15,000 per rental unit. Funds from Grant Awards may be used to pay for unpaid rent (rental arrearages), unpaid mortgage debt, or other unpaid expenses separate from rent that are directly related to financial hardship caused by the 2025 Eaton or Palisades fires and windstorm events or any other emergency financial hardships.

Again, the County advises that applications are not yet being accepted and urges landlords to complete the interest form to be the first to know when applications open.

More details coming soon, and the County cautions that information provided about the Emergency Rent Relief Program thus far is subject to change.
