Volunteers have many roles. In the days prior to the event.  They help stuff the welcome bags, set up welcome booths at participating hotels, and the like. During the conference, volunteers act as ushers guiding attendees to meeting locations, assisting in lecture rooms, at hotels providing directions to the center, and other similar roles.  If you are a member of the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, you are automatically a member of NAA and this discount is exclusively for YOU.
