FOR NOW....Gas Appliances Saved by SCAQMD

Industry News,

Gas Appliances Saved by SCAQMD…For Now!

On Friday, June 6th, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Governing Board voted to REJECT its proposed, amended Rules 1111 and 1121, and it's all because of you! Amended Rules 1111 and 1121 would have forced all property owners to pay higher costs to shift to all electric furnaces and water heaters or pay a huge fee to continue using far less costly natural gas options.

Thanks to our members’ advocacy efforts, the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles and other members within our broad coalition successfully prevented the SCAQMD from implementing what surely would have been billions of dollars in hidden fees that would have drastically increased the cost of living for Southern Californians.

During the June 6th meeting, more than 100 social justice advocacy groups, affordable housing nonprofits, business organizations, local elected officials, and residents delivered public comments that helped persuade the Board to reject these costly regulations. For the past few months, our coalition has expanded to include 80 organizational partners, more than 20,000 residents, and 47 local governments that publicly voiced opposition to these harmful regulations.

The Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles thanks you again for being a valued partner in our coalition to oppose amended Rules 1111 and 1121 and for your dedication to reducing Southern California’s cost of living.

Let’s keep up the fight! Give to the AAGLA Political Action Committee today at www.aagla.org/candidatespac.
