Attention: L.A. City Sanitation Customers – Help Protest the Massive Increase in Sewer Rates

Industry News,

Attention: L.A. City Sanitation Customers – Help Protest the Massive Increase in Sewer Rates

The City of Los Angeles will conduct a public hearing on August 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Los Angeles City Hall, John Ferraro Council Chamber, Room 340, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, to consider the adoption of INCREASED Sewer Service Charges, and at that time, they will consider written protests. IF MORE THAN 50% OF RATE PAYERS PROTEST THIS PROPOSED, MASSIVE RATE INCREASE (Between 22% and 27% just for this year and doubling within the next 3-years!), YOU CAN HELP STOP THE INCREASE so that the increase cannot move forward.

Rate payers are welcome to attend and speak at the meeting, or may call one of the phone numbers shown below to listen. However, oral comments at the public hearing will not qualify as written protests.

IN ORDER TO PROTEST, WRITTEN PROTESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MAIL TO THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS:

City of Los Angeles
Office of the City Clerk
Election Division
555 Ramirez Street, Space 300
Los Angeles, California 90012

Written Protest Form can be found on Page 3

.

Be sure to fill out the form, the “Proposition 218 – The Protest Process” form today, and mail your protest to the address above so it arrives prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 27, 2024, in advance of the meeting.

  • Please make sure to fully complete each item on the “Proposition 218 – The Protest Process” form.
  • All written protests must include (1) the printed full name and original signature of the owner or tenant submitting the protest; and (2) the street address and Assessor Parcel Number (APN) of the property.
  • If you have received this form by mail, please be sure to verify the APN number before returning your protest form.

Protests submitted by email or other electronic means DO NOT QUALIFY and will not be accepted.

At the time of the public hearing, or at the next practicable City Council meeting, the City Council will receive a final tabulation of all written protests received by the City Clerk.

The City Council may approve the rate adjustments unless a majority of customers file valid written protests. Per California Government Code Section 53759, there is a 120-day statute of limitations for challenging any new, increased, or extended fee or charge.

PLEASE, TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY AND FILE YOUR PROTEST TO THIS MASSIVE RATE INCREASE. PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO DO THE SAME.
