California takes sexual harassment very seriously, and it is against the law. Despite growing awareness, many workers still experience harassment. These legally required trainings are designed to educate or remind everyone about acceptable behavior in the workplace.

California law (Government Code section 12950.1) requires employers with 5 or more employees to provide training on sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention. Non-supervisory employees must receive 1 hour of training, and supervisors must receive 2 hours — every two years.

Employers are required to provide this training on paid time and cover any associated costs. Even if your employees are not all located in California, this training applies if your organization employs 5 or more people anywhere.

This Workplace Harassment Awareness training will teach participants how to identify, prevent, and act on potential or actual harassment situations. It’s a highly participatory course focused on improving management skills and confidence in addressing harassment concerns.

Some of the important topics we’ll cover include:

  • How to stop sexual harassment behavior and address issues effectively
  • The difference between harassment and discrimination
  • Setting boundaries between work and social environments
  • Reducing conflict and improving response to complaints
  • Recognizing proper and improper behavior
  • Using interview techniques to get honest information from all parties
