Join your fellow housing providers for a special member-exclusive “meet and greet” with Mayor Rex Richardson of Long Beach. During this event, you’ll hear Mayor Richardson’s views on the future of housing and the challenges surrounding affordability in Long Beach and throughout Los Angeles County. Mayor Richardson will be joined by representatives from the City’s Housing Authority and Health and Human Services Department.

Rex Richardson, Mayor of Long Beach
Rex Richardson is the 29th Mayor of Long Beach—a husband, father, and trailblazer as the first Black mayor in the city’s history. Since taking office, Mayor Richardson has led with his Opportunity Beach Agenda—the first 100-day plan ever presented by a Long Beach mayor. He is actively addressing homelessness, building an inclusive economy, fostering healthy communities, investing in youth, and supporting sustainability and resiliency across the city.
Mayor Richardson began his public service in 2014 as the youngest person ever elected to the Long Beach City Council. He later became the youngest Vice Mayor in the city’s history, serving terms in both 2016 and 2020. Regionally, he has held leadership positions including President of the Southern California Association of Governments and board member of the South Coast Air Quality Management District. His goal is to elevate Long Beach as a regional leader, supporting its role as home to California’s second-largest port and the fastest-growing aerospace hub in the nation.

Daniel Yukelson, Executive Director, Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles
Daniel Yukelson is the Executive Director of AAGLA. A Certified Public Accountant, Yukelson began his career at Ernst & Young and has since served in senior financial leadership roles, most notably as CFO of Premiere Radio Networks and Oasis West Realty. He has also served on the Beverly Hills Planning Commission and Public Works Commission.
