Measure H: Pasadena's New Rent Control and Tenant Protection Law
Measure H: Pasadena's New Rent Control and Tenant Protection Law
Landlord Attorney Mike Brennan Gives an Important Update and Explanation
In November 2022, Ballot Measure H passed in Pasadena, imposing rent control and tenant protection rules. Annual rent increases are now limited to 75% of the annual change in CPI, announced each September 1st by the new Rent Control Board. Additionally, all evictions require "just cause."
Since its passage, Measure H has undergone updates by the Rent Control Board. Join us for an in-depth overview of Pasadena’s rent control and eviction rules with legal expert Mike Brennan of The Brennan Law Firm.
Landlords can now only raise rent once per year, with restrictions based on tenant move-in date. Rent was rolled back to rates in effect as of May 17, 2021. The ordinance includes just cause protections, a rent registry, and a Rent Control Board.
