Representatives from the City of Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) will be at the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles office for an in-person workshop covering the City’s annual rental-property registration requirements.

Join us for practical, step-by-step guidance on completing your annual City of Los Angeles Rent Registry. LAHD representatives will explain how to enter or update rental-unit information, report current tenant and rent information, pay applicable annual fees, request available exemptions, and navigate the City’s online portal.

Whether you are registering a property for the first time, updating an existing registration, or trying to resolve a question involving fees, deadlines, or property information, this workshop will help you better understand the process and avoid preventable registration problems.

During This Workshop, You Will Learn:

• How to complete the annual Rent Registry for City of Los Angeles rental units.

• How to register rental units and applicable mobile home spaces.

• How to add or update tenant information, rent amounts, and other required property details.

• How to pay applicable annual RSO, JCO, and SCEP fees.

• How to determine whether a unit may qualify for an annual temporary fee exemption.

• How to identify whether your property falls within City of Los Angeles registration requirements.

• How to address common problems involving deadlines, fees, missing information, and portal access.

• How to confirm that your registration has been completed and obtain your Registration Statement.

• Where to obtain additional assistance from LAHD.

Why Annual Registration Matters

Annual registration is mandatory for residential rental units in the City of Los Angeles. Depending on the property, housing providers may be required to pay fees associated with the Rent Stabilization Ordinance, Just Cause Ordinance, or Systematic Code Enforcement Program and submit current information through the Rent Registry.

Once the applicable requirements have been completed, LAHD issues a Registration Statement. Certain units, including some owner-occupied, non-rented, or secured-and-vacant units, may qualify for an annual temporary exemption from applicable fees. These exemptions must be requested and approved and generally do not carry over automatically from one year to the next.

This workshop is an opportunity to receive information directly from LAHD representatives and get practical help understanding the registration process.
