California's Thermostat Care Safe Recycling Program Pays You!
The Thermostat Care Safe Thermostat Recycling Program in California helps individuals and businesses that own real property to dispose of old mercury thermostats that pose a health hazard to communities and the environment. The Thermostat Care Program offers a $30 mail-in rebate for each mercury-based thermostat recycled through a designated Mercury Thermostat Recycling Location.

Mercury thermostats are subject to universal waste regulations and cannot be disposed of in regular household trash.

Instead, you should take them to a designated recycling center with an HVAC thermostat recycling program. You can also bring them to a household hazardous waste collection event sponsored by your local municipality or solid waste district.

During this webinar we'll discuss:

  • The principal dangers of mercury thermostats to everyone's health.
  • How to uninstall mercury thermostats and safely dispose of them, including how to locate a disposal center.
  • How the $30 mail-in rebate program works.
  • Q&A to follow the discussion.
