Lead Paint RRP Certification Training - English
EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Certification Course
If your property was built before 1978, there is a good chance it contains lead-based paint. In 1978, the federal government banned consumer use of lead-containing paint, though some states enacted bans even earlier. Lead from paint — especially lead-contaminated dust — is one of the most common causes of lead poisoning.
The EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) requires that firms performing renovation, repair, or painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and pre-schools built before 1978 must:
- Be certified by the EPA (or an EPA-authorized state).
- Use certified renovators trained by EPA-approved providers.
- Follow lead-safe work practices.
This 8-hour in-person training includes classroom instruction and a written exam. It meets Federal, State, and local requirements for first-time trainees and those with expired certificates.
