In the City of Los Angeles, landlords of rent-stabilized units must pay annual interest on security deposits held for at least one year, with the official interest rate set at 3.03% for the 2026 calendar year (down from 4.32% in 2025). This security deposit interest must be paid annually. Other cities such as West Hollywood and Pasadena also have interest on security deposit requirements
