Balconies and Balcony Inspections 101
Got Balconies? California's New Balcony Inspection Bill Will Impact You!
Optimum Seismic will be LIVE ONLINE AND IN PERSON AT THE AAGLA OFFICE! Join us for this hybrid session either in person at the AAGLA Office or from your home/office.
FREE BALCONY INSPECTION:
Attendees will be eligible to win a complimentary balcony inspection valued at up to $3,000. Winner must be present. Lunch will be provided. Learn about your legal obligation to inspect and repair balconies and other elevated exterior elements from Optimum Seismic's experts.
California law requires you to have your balconies and other elevated exterior building elements inspected by January 1, 2025. Six people died and seven were injured in a tragic balcony collapse in Berkeley in June 2015 due to dry rot from rainwater. In response, California enacted Senate Bill 721 (“The Balcony Bill”) on September 17, 2018. This law requires inspection of balconies and other exterior elevated elements (EEEs) at all multifamily residential buildings with three or more units.
Join us for this important seminar to learn everything you need to know about SB 721. We’ll cover key aspects of the law, define elevated exterior elements, explain why the law was created, and outline inspection and reporting requirements. Most importantly, learn how much these inspections cost and how to meet the deadline.
In this seminar, we will cover:
- How to inspect and repair balconies and other exterior elevated elements by January 1, 2025
- What the new laws require of building owners and operators
- What to expect during the inspection process and typical costs
- Common problems found during inspections and how to fix them
- Who is qualified to perform inspections and repairs
- Recent changes to the law and penalties for non-compliance
- SPECIAL OFFER: Attendees are entered to win a free engineering balcony inspection by Optimum Seismic (valued up to $3,000)
- And much more — live Q&A to follow
